Depending on where you live you will have different local garbage containers law. Some areas are very lax when it comes to what you can and cannot leave out for collection, others have very strict local garbage containers law, and still others will actually issue containers to their residents. These local garbage containers laws are put in place to keep the rat population under control and to keep the towns and cities sanitary. One prime example of how these local garbage containers laws can help is the city of Buffalo. Back about ten years ago the rat population was exploding in the city. Their primary food source was garbage that was being left out to be collected. This garbage, like most collection routines, was placed out at night and collected the next day. Different sections of Buffalo had different times once a week that they could leave out garbage. The problem was that most, if not all, people and companies that were leaving garbage out to be collected were not using proper containers to keep the rats at bay. The rats would come in and feed on the garbage and were slowly becoming a major problem throughout the city. At first the city tried to keep up by killing off the rat populations. Unfortunately this did not prove to be very effective as keeping up with the rat reproduction was nearly impossible. With a plentiful food supply the rats were breeding as fast, and faster than they could be killed off. Clearly this plan was not going to work so the city needed to come up with something different to do.
