Local security guards are pooled from many sources and just as many different types of people. Local security guards are chosen for protection of places, events and persons. Local security guards can find jobs through companies that provide security services. Requirements and training vary. If your job is to observe and report then you need to know how to read and write, watch for unusual activity and maintain a safe distance. Do not exceed your rights for the job you are working. This is a hard options for many local security guards because they feel they must do everything they can to stop a crime. This puts you in danger and interferes with the job of the police. The next level of security is local security guards who must maintain control of an event or react to an emergency. For this type of security work you need to be trained in crowd control and emergency medical response. Your company will provide all training you need. As you go through your training be sure to ask questions and learn what you are allowed when you must make a decision and there is no time to ask for advice.
