In these stressful times many turn to religion to find comfort and solace. Local Christian churches offer the seeker a place of understanding and Christian fellowship. There are a variety of choices when searching for a local Christian church. There are Baptist, Methodist, Assemblies of God, Charismatic, Episcopalian, and Presbyterian to name a few. There are large and small congregations depending on what you are looking for. Most local Christian Churches have a wide range of ministries such as youth (children & teen), singles, couples, and new believers. Also local Christian Churches offer age appropriate Bible studies (often on Tuesday or Wednesday nights) and Sunday school classes. Many churches have nurseries so that parents can enjoy the service. Praise and worship services are usual an interactive part of the service where the congregants can sing along with the choir or praise team. A person can find traditional places of worship or a more contemporary worship services it all depends on you. Local Christian Churches get their inspiration and instruction from the Bible. Christians are encouraged to read the bible and pray daily. Bible reading is essential in understand the mission and purpose of the local Christian Church. In fact Christian Churches derive their spiritual authority from the bible. Christian fellowship encourages growth, personal responsibility and strength. This fellowship is unique in that it is considered to be a family relationship hence Christians call each other brother and sister. Most churches provide a family atmosphere in keeping with the New Testament teachings of fellowship. Priest and pastors are the spiritual leaders within the church; they offer guidance, instruction and wisdom from the bible. It is their job to ensure that their congregation is taught biblical principles and how to live the Christian life. Local Christian churches can be a part of a larger denomination or independent. Many adhere to a doctrinal statement of faith or a covenant while others may be nondenominational with no strict statement of faith or covenant. Most churches perform the ordinances of Baptism (by submersion or sprinkling) and the Lord's Supper also known as Communion. These practices are in keeping with the Bible's teachings found in the New Testament.
