Local unfurnished apartments are available in most every city, town or rural area. The majority of apartments are unfurnished, meaning that the renter will supply their own. These local unfurnished apartments range in size from one bedroom apartments that may have no kitchen and share a bathroom with other apartments, up to luxury apartments. There is a tremendous diversity in style, size, and rental costs. These apartments are separate dwellings unto themselves, but are attached to, or are part of, a larger building. The most affordable local unfurnished apartments are often called studio or efficiency apartments, or sometimes, simply flats. These usually consist of one primary, open room, which is combined living space and bedroom. Sometimes the kitchen is part of the open space, too. Or it may be set off from the living space in local unfurnished apartments. A small bathroom is frequently part of the unit, but sometimes several apartments of this type will share a common bathroom. This can be especially true where large homes have been subdivided into apartments. Local unfurnished apartments that have separate sleeping areas are usually designated as one, two, or three bedroom apartments, and so forth. This usually corresponds to the overall square footage of the apartments. Smaller apartments usually only have one entrance, though if they are part of large apartment buildings, a fire escape may also be found outside a bedroom window. Larger local unfurnished apartments will feature nicer kitchen facilities, and perhaps a separate dining area. In some cases, they may provide a separate laundry room, in which renters may place their own washer and dryer. Occasionally, these larger unfurnished apartments may have a large storage closet, though extra storage may also be provided in secure areas of the buildings basement. These larger local unfurnished apartments may also supply renters with a second entrance, a balcony, or a deck.
