The residents of Norfolk, Virginia have to get used to the ever present sight of local Air Craft Carriers. Like for example the Aircraft Carrier George H.W. Bush, calls Norfolk, VA its home port. Aircraft Carriers are giant ships that have the ability to allow airplanes, to land and take off from their missives desks. They are referred to in many quarters as, military launching strips at sea. There are many different types of Aircraft Carriers. Some are classified as, 'Attack Aircraft carriers' others, CVAN, which have nuclear capabilities on board. There are currently hundreds of Aircraft Carriers, in ports or out to sea, as part of the fleet of ships employed by the United States Navy. The very first Aircraft Carrier classified as such, and commissioned to operate was the' Langley' in 1922. It famously sank in February of 1942.
