If the education that your children receive is important to you, sending your children to local college preparatory schools is the best thing that you can do for them. These are private schools that cater to children that are destined to go to college. They will teach a higher caliber education that will be found in the traditional public school and will better prepare children to enter higher levels of academia and afford them more opportunities when they are ready to apply to college. Finding the right college prep schools for your children can be a challenge. Start looking locally at charter schools and boarding schools in addition to prep schools. All of these types of schools should be well equipped to assist your children in working to their greatest potentials. Go into the campuses that you find and visit with the staff, faculty, and students. The atmosphere of the campus and attitudes of the people that you encounter will give you a good idea of whether or not it would be a good fit for the needs of your children. Visit the campuses alone the first time that you go. Bringing your children with you will very likely make the trip more difficult than it has to be and create problems. Only take your children to visit a campus if you have previously determined that it would be a good fit for your children. Look into the test scores of the children at the prep schools that you are researching. Well behaved and seemingly intelligent students do not necessarily equate to high college entrance test scores. Let the numbers speak for themselves. Instead of simply comparing the scores against those of the average student, compare the scores against those of students in other prep schools.
