For one, you must research the area youre visiting and make sure that all the attractions are fitting for your interests. You also have to make sure that your timing is correct. In other words, you dont want to drive through Atlanta or New York City on Thanksgiving weekend. While these are obvious points, you should also find out if there are any major events going on anywhere along your route. A lot of traffic can ruin a peoples attitudes toward the vacation in a hurry. Who youre traveling with is yet another factor. If there are 8 people going on the trip and you know two of them cant stand each other, dont put them in the same car for several hours. And the most important factor is lodging. When youre looking up information on your destinations, attractions, dining, festivals in the area and be sure to also look up local lodging. Dont just book a hotel because of a recommendation from a friend or family member. That would be silly considering almost every lodging option will have pictures of their property, as well as information on amenities. By taking in all this information, you will be able to make a better decision. However, before you finalize your decision, its highly recommended that you get approval from whoever youre traveling with. You might think you’re going to be the hero if you do a surprise booking, but you dont want to end up being the person everyone blames if things dont go well.
