Students are required to graduate from one of the accredited Aviation Mech schools in the United States, and there is a wide variety of career positions available in the aviation field. Depending on what area of Aviation Mechanics that you are interested in, the programs are varied lengths and are found in many Aviation Mech Schools in every state. The five programs are, an Aviation Maintenance Professional (AMP) program would typically take 21 months, the Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) would takes approximately 14 months, the Avionics Technology Program (AVT) where the student would receive a certificate is seven months, the Aviation Mechanical Certificate would train in airplane mechanics and take only two weeks, and the Aviation Maintenance Mechanical Technology would be equivalent to an Associate Degree which would allow the student to go further into a Bachelors Degree.
