You can expect to have a severely compromised battery, in freezing or below freezing temperatures. If you find that the battery is not turning over properly in other seasons, like summer and fall, it's time to pay attention to your battery, the chances are high, that the battery will fail in colder weather. Before you take it in to be serviced, you can check all the connectors on the battery, to make sure they are clean and free of dirt. Pouring soda over the top of the battery can clean it somewhat, until it can be serviced. The car's oil, should always be maintained.
