There are many teams in the National Football League but as far as dark horse teams are concerned, there are only two major names that come to mind. Despite storied pasts, and despite a great deal of die hard and committed fans, two teams that arent publicized as much as the winning franchises on the East Coast are The Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders. Both teams have storied histories, rivalries, players and so much more, and yet they seem to be fading from the top of the spectrum. They will return to glory as their fans unite to cheer them on every season. Taking a closer look at these two teams can showcase a better picture on what might be two of the underrated teams in the National Football League. First, lets take a look at the Oakland Raiders. This team has had quite an impact on football and culture alike. The team has gone through some major changes throughout the years, but before they could impact culture, they impacted football with a smash mouth style of play that is not commonly seen today. Originally an AFL team, the Raiders weren't exactly on the cusp of greatness until Al Davis showed up on the scene. Davis would spring into action and help create a lasting impression on American Football that is still going strong today. John Madden took the helm for a major run of wins, making the franchise one of the best in the industry, that is until he left, and the slow decline set in. Through the 70s and 80s the Raiders would fall from greatness, move to Los Angeles and become the victims of bad press and lackluster promises from Los Angeles and Oakland. The Oakland Raiders have yet to regain their former glories, despite a rabid fan base.
