More and more MRIs or Magnetic Resonance Imaging has been performed since they were first performed in 1977. Technology is changing our health system just like it is changing every system it touches. In the past patients might have gone for CAT Scans or X rays to help diagnose their health related issues but today a doctor or surgeon has the option of sending you for an in depth MRI scan. Finding the right local MRI Center should be a top priority for you when your doctor asks you to go for a scan. You can ask your doctor or surgeon for a recommendation or ask at their front desk. The receptionist who handles referrals might be able to tell you which local MRI center is used the most. Another way to find a good local MRI center is through word of mouth. Ask your family, friends and neighbors who they have used in the past and if they feel comfortable enough to recommend them to you. Maybe they visited a local MRI center for a mammogram or X ray and could give you some firsthand advice. Some people go to their local MRI Center because they are a part of a medical health study. If you live near a medical university or college they sometimes take part in medical health studies and ask for healthy volunteers. You can receive an MRI of your brain from a local MRI center at no cost by participating in their study. They would then compare it to the un-healthy brains in their health study. This benefits both you and the college. Most times they give you a physical exam for no cost as well.
