Community services are needed all over the world. Everyone can join the opportunity to make a difference in other peoples' lives. Local Community Services exist to enhance the quality of life for those who suffer a need that will only be met by the generous donation of someone's time. Volunteers who willingly become involved in community services do so to bring happiness to other people's lives. They in turn get a sense of fulfillment because they know they have made a difference. Opportunities in community services exist for people of all ages. Children, teenagers, adults and senior citizens can all get involved. Youth should take advantage of community service programs to allow them to see the needs of their communities. It will also help them build their social skills. Youth who are close to graduating from high school will be able to add the experience of volunteering with community service programs to their college or job applications. Some communities may have a community service agency that offers a literacy program which tutor adults or children in reading, writing and basic math. Another community service agency may offer services to assist the elderly. For example, many elderly persons need assistance getting to the doctor or picking up their prescriptions.
