The modern world has presented many challenges to many different areas of business. Perhaps the one area where this challenge can be seen the best is in the area of security. The security system has become a focus for many businesses. Use of an access control card, a security lock, and biometric tools has risen dramatically. Access to certain areas needs to restricted for certain employees or certain people. Often high security areas use more than one security measure, and the combination of several methods can result in the most secure environment for employees and visitors. Local card access control systems are available for commercial and residential security. While the vast majority of homeowners would be going overboard with elaborate security measures, commercial customers find the use of a smart card or a biometric cost efficient. Local card access control systems are not unlike those of any newer hotel. The access control card, or room key, is placed into the security lock, or door lock, where access can either be granted or denied. Hotels have been using this technology for years to grant guests access to their rooms and other guest specific areas. Other businesses have followed suit, using the technology to restrict access to parking lots, lunch areas, offices, or other sensitive areas. Biometric access denial systems are relatively new, but these devices are finding their way into the mainstream. In the field of biometrics, a part of the body is scanned into the device for access to an area. A biometric security lock can be placed on a door, gate, or safe. Generally, a hand scanner is the most economical form of these types of locks, though retina scans and finger prints scans are fairly common as well.
