Depending on where you live, local seafood restaurants could be plentiful or pretty hard to come by. If you live in an eastern or western state that borders the ocean, then chances are you will find plenty of local seafood restaurants that carry the freshest local seafood. Most cities that border the coast have many local seafood restaurants that offer a variety of seafood and other items and can fall in the price range of very inexpensive to quite expensive. Local seafood restaurants are usually well-known to local folks, so if you are not familiar with an area, ask around town to see which restaurants the locals recommend. They are the ones that know the local seafood restaurants in their part of town the best. If they recommend it, you can bet the seafood is the best. Some local seafood restaurants have takeout, while others only offer sit down meals. There are some local seafood restaurants that offer outdoor sitting, which can be quite nice and often times located right next to a wonderful ocean view. Often times, when taking a cruise off the coast of New England or California, you will find a local seafood restaurant has franchised on the cruise ship and will offer a dinner cruise. This makes for a wonderful evening out, although it could be quite costly. Favorite local seafood restaurant menus include clams, oysters, fresh catch of the day and of course, mouth watering lobster. Again, depending on the sophistication of the restaurant, the seafood can be served as an entree or part of a complete meal that would include an appetizer (like shrimp), a salad, the main course and a dessert. A finer local seafood restaurant might also offer a bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal.
