Instantly Record Video from Your Own Point of View with Epiphany Eyewear

Capturing video from your own point of view can be tricky with the equipment that we have today. Even with smartphones and small cameras, producing footage from a first-person perspective can be difficult, especially if you need to use your hands.

Enter Epiphany Eyewear, the "smart" eyewear that's been making waves on the web for the past couple of weeks. Currently one of the hottest projects on Kickstarter, the Epiphany Social Video glasses lets you record videos and take photos using the eyewear itself. It has a small HD video camera on the bridge of the glasses that allows you to seamlessly capture the things that you're looking at. Epiphany Eyewear also has a tiny built in computer that stores your recordings locally into an SD card. On top of that , these social video glasses also have social sharing capabilities that lets users broadcast their videos online through Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

Too sunny outside? Don't fret. Another cool feature of Epiphany Eyewear is that it can instantly transform itself into a pair of sunglasses; it has an electric powered sunglasses feature that you can activate with a flick of a button.

Practical (and fun) applications

You can use Epiphany Eyewear in tons of practical and fun ways. Whether you're documenting a seminar, conference, or even a concert, you can capture everything by simply wearing the eyeglasses while attending the event. Why bother holding up a camera or draining your smartphone's battery when you can just don a piece of eyewear?

Epiphany is also ideal for demonstrating processes or procedures using your own two hands. Audiences can usually understand how something works if they see it from a first person perspective and with Epiphany, you can record your first-person video hands-free, all on your own.

Kickstarter

Interested in this project? Then check out its Kickstarter page here. Vergence Labs (the team behind Epiphany Eyewear) is in the process of raising $50,000 for the production of these glasses and they're just a few grand away from their goal.

Backers can pledge anywhere from $3 to $3,900 or more. Depending on the amount of money that you contribute, you'll be able to receive a range of items such as stickers, T-shirts, and even your own pair of Epiphany Eyewear (the glasses are available for pledges of $199 and above). Be sure to hurry and get those pledges in though, as the project has 7 days to go before it closes.

Prototypes and designs are already completed. If funded, Epiphany Eyewear will go into production and the team aims to ship the product by late December of this year, in time for the holidays.

People behind Epiphany

Vergence Labs was founded by Eric Miller and Jon Rodriguez just two days before 2012. The two met on Kickstarter and worked together for about seven months before officially founding Vergence Labs. Their company was then accepted into StartX, a prestigious Stanford startup accelerator and the rest is history.
