Take Your Cooking to the Next Level with iGrill!

Cooking is definitely a fun and delicious experience. However, one of the biggest complaints when it comes to cooking is that it doesn't go well with multitasking. Cooking large meals usually involves timing and monitoring, so you can't really step away from your kitchen for more than a few feet, unless you want to set off the smoke detectors.

However, the above-mentioned problem may soon become a thing of the past thanks to iGrill. This new technology allows you to monitor your food from up to 200 feet away, letting you attend to guests, do other chores, or simply chill out while the food is cooking. No need to stand around your stove / grill the whole time, and you won't have to keep coming back every 5 minutes just to check on your food. With iGrill, you can rest easily, knowing that you'll only have to attend to your food when it's ready.

Considered as the first grilling and cooking thermometer out there, the device works as a wireless Bluetooth meat thermometer. It works with a free iDevice app which lets you monitor your food even if you're away from the kitchen. iGrill will notify you when the food reaches the right temperature, allowing you to cook food to perfection without having to keep an eye on it at all times.

While the iGrill thermometer and app work best together, iGrill can still work as a great stand alone thermometer that'll quickly tell you how your food is doing. It even comes with an alarm feature to alert you when you need to take the food out of the oven or grill.

Combined with the iPhone / iPad app though, iGrill gives you a wider range of features including multi-probe support, iDevice monitoring, multiple view options, kitchen timer, and even standard recipes. The app also allows you to share what you're cooking to Facebook and Twitter.

You can purchase iGrill on store.igrillinc.com. The device comes in two colors, black and white, and costs $79.99. If you're in the US, you'll be able to avail of a free shipping promo with the code "ZUCK" (more on this below).

Android Version

Sorry, Android users, but you may have wait a little bit more for your iGrill app. According to the site, "We currently have an app in development for Android users. The Android market has so many phones and tablets using different Bluetooth connections, which makes it impossible for us to be compatible with all of them. We are currently waiting for a universal platform to be available so that our app will work on all Android devices."

The Zuckerberg Effect

On Sunday, August 19, 2012, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg updated his status, saying:

I updated my grilling app, iGrill, today and it now has a Facebook integration that lets you see what other people are grilling right now around the world. Awesome. I'm making a Fred's steak.

Needless to say, Zuckerberg's status propelled iGrill to Internet fame, as a landslide of visitors checked to see what iGrill was all about. According to Mashable, Zuckergerg's status update sent around 1,000 visitors a minute to the iGrill website, causing its servers to crash.

The Zuckerberg incident aside though, iGrill is definitely an awesome device. Not only does it make cooking more convenient, but the fact that it injects some social aspects to its features makes it one of the coolest device-app combos around.
