Top 5 Favorite Perks at Google

Google, the world's beloved search giant is also known for being a beloved employer. Not only do employees receive the full package in terms of benefits and time off, but Google throws in a lot of extras such as free gourmet food, free dry cleaning, free shuttle service, day care, etc. There is a long list of plusses that Google offers for employees, and the five things listed below are my favorites:

1. Celebrity visitors - Has Lady Gaga visited your office? I didn't think so. Google is one of the few companies that expose their employees to famous people of great minds and talent. Apparently, the search giant's Mountain View office is a "must-visit" stop for presidential candidates. This doesn't just happen in California though, according to CNN, Google's New York office saw the likes of Tina Fey, New Yorker writer Jane Mayer. "Rapper Common and violionist Joshua Bell performed at the New York City offices late last year."

2. Free Food - Yes, a lot of companies offer free food and snacks to employees, but Google sure goes above and beyond. Business Insider estimates that the search company spends at $72,288,000 per year on food. So what exactly goes into the Googler's stomachs? Well, on top of snack/coffee/fruit/power-bar/drink bars, Google has 25 cafeterias in its Mountain View offices alone. According to CNN, "Options continue to include the Asian-themed Cafe Gia and Cafe 150, a restaurant that only uses ingredients sourced from within 150 miles."

3. Tons of on-site services - Google's offices are huge, and one reason for this could be the fact that the company has a lot on-site services. Aside from cafeterias, Googlers can enjoy on-site doctors for medical assistance (including physical therapy and chiropractic services). There's also an on oil change and car wash service, dry cleaning, massage therapy, gym, hair stylist, fitness classes, and bike repair. Whew.

4. Free Android Devices - This actually comes to no surprise, as a lot of companies give out their own products to employees. In Google's case, Android devices are the go-to giveaways to employees, especially during the holidays. CNN reported that last December, the search giant "offered gratis Samsung Galaxy Nexus units to many, if not all, of its employees last December as a holiday gift. Each phone, which normally retails for $299 with a two-year Verizon contract, came with a customized back covered with icons of Google services."

5. Indoor recreation - Want to go bowling? Why not do it at the office? At least, that's probably what's running through the minds of Googlers. The search company also has a dance studio with classes such as "Capoeira or the utilitarian "How to dance at a party," taught by professional instructors and experienced volunteer Googlers."

Yes, Google indeed offers a lot great perks to employees, but perhaps the best one there is the fact that when you're a Googler, you know that you're working alongside the brightest minds of industry and that you're working on some really cool products that practically everyone knows about. I don't about you, but that to me is the sweetest perk of all.
