About Beth Beth Lockwood, nurse practitioner, has been advancing her nursing career since it began in 1993. Beth earned her master's degree in education from South University in Georgia. She then earned a post-graduate family nurse practitioner certificate from South University and has practiced as an NP since 2016. "I entered internal medicine as my first job out of NP school," she explains. "This job will be partially new to me with the addition of sleep medicine." As a nurse practitioner in sleep medicine, Beth assists doctors in seeing people for medical issues, diagnosis and treatment. "I aim to learn all I can about the patients who see my collaborating doctor," she says. Patient education is important to Beth, who knows patients are more likely to try new things and follow medical advice when they understand the purpose behind it. In Her Own Words Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life? My parents. What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? I was a cashier at Quality Farm & Fleet in Mishawaka. I remember being particular about counting back people's change. I never wanted my drawer to be off. What are your hobbies, interests? Camping, bicycling, hunting, scrapbooking and reading. If you could sit down to dinner with anyone, alive or deceased, who would it be and why? Mother Teresa. She had a passion for helping people beyond anyone I can recall. I would like to be remembered as she is. In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? My faith and family.
