The Friends of Lewis and Clark Bicentennial was established in 2002 is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation whose mission is to foster the public's education of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and to promote travel on today's Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. The Friends of Lewis and Clark Bicentennial work with the Middle Missouri River Lewis and Clark Network to gain the support and participation from federal, state, and county public outdoor recreation and tourism agencies, and from other nonprofit tourism-oriented partners to develop and produce free travel information and internet content for the 16-state Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. The Great Rivers region includes family vacations and outdoor recreation in southern Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. The Great Plains region includes family vacations and outdoor recreation in western Iowa, eastern Nebraska and southeastern South Dakota. The Rocky Mountain region includes family vacations and outdoor recreation in South Dakota, North Dakota and Montana. The Pacific Northwest region includes family vacations and outdoor recreation Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon.
