Karl C. Golnik, M.D. is the Neuro-Ophthalmologist at Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI). The eye generates the visual signal, but in order for a person to see, this signal must be transmitted to the brain. A Neuro-Ophthalmologist is concerned with the visual pathways in the brain and with visual abnormalities (visual loss, double vision) that occur when communication between the brain and the eye is damaged. Neuro-Ophthalmology bridges the gap between several specialties including neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and ophthalmology.
