I always used to play doctor as a child and knew at an early age I wanted to go into medicine. Plastic and reconstructive surgery is more than just the elective procedures that people immediately think about. It is about restoring a sense of well being to a person through increasing their self esteem or function after trauma or a cancer diagnosis. I want patients to be able to voice all their concerns and feelings and want them to feel comfortable and truly heard. The most gratifying part of this field is being able to restore a sense of self to our patients and to be a part of that process is a privilege.
