In today’s society, social drinking is commonplace. The number of individuals who participate in recreational drug use has skyrocketed since the 50s. But, what happens when social drinking; or recreational drug use becomes addictive? The effect on the family can be devastating. If the person with the addiction is the primary breadwinner of the household, there is the real threat of job loss and often incarceration. Sometimes the person with the addiction is a child in the home. The threat of violence plagues many addicts’ homes. While the addict can and should call on Alcoholics Anonymous for help with their addiction; Alanon and Alateen are there to help the families of the addict to recover not just survive! Alanon and the local Alanon chapter will help find the answers.
