Demolition is defined as the act of wrecking and destroying. There are methods of demolition either by explosives or by hand or machine. In residential areas, some houses can be demolished for various reasons: total remodeling and construction of a new house, house is very old and is unable to stand on its own, or harmful elements in the house are present and needed to be disposed. The demolition process starts with acquiring a permit from the city to ensure safety and the permission of having heavy equipments such as a crane and grapples to enter in a residential area. There are some specifications that need to be followed depending on the city's accordance. Once the permit is obtained, it is time to schedule the demolition. The residential demolition begins by removing everything in the house, separating the items that can be salvaged and the items that have any value which can be used later on. The glass and windows are sometimes removed to prevent it from shattering and causing physical damage to the demolition crew. The final process is the safe removal of hazardous materials and hauling it away. Currently, the demolition contractors are encouraged to recycle and reused demolition materials for future use instead of dumping it on landfills.
